2030 long-range planning underway in Scott County
Chuck Kajer, Managing Editor
Scott County's 2030 long-range plan update is four years in the making, with more than 3,000 county residents or landowners having been asked for their input. The draft of the plan presented at a public hearing Thursday, March 27, at the Scott County Government Center in Shakopee includes 12 chapters, 344 pages and 59 maps.
But many of the people who spoke at last week's public hearing told members of the county's planning commission that something was missing - protection for landowners who want to continue to farm their land.
Brad Davis, Planning Manager for Scott County, gave a 75-minute presentation on the plan, a document that must be reviewed and updated at least every 10 years and approved by the Metropolitan Council.
