3 more teams open seasons this week

Three more teams at New Prague High School will begin their winter sports season during the coming week.

The Trojan gymnastics team will compete at Breck at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. Coach Matt Shetka is preparing his team for another tough season hoping to make another state tournament run. On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Trojans will host Lakeville North at 6:30 p.m. at the New Prague Gymnastics Center.

Coach Greg Tikalsky's wrestling squad will make its 2009-10 debut Saturday when they host the New Prague Invitational. The meet will feature eight teams on six mats in both gyms at the high school. The field includes Cannon Falls, Chatfield, Eagan, Owatonna, St. Peter, Waseca, St. Paul Humboldt and New Prague.

The Trojans are also scheduled to wrestle in a dual meet at Burnsville Thursday, Dec. 10.

Coach Tim Dittberner begins his first full season as New Prague High School basketball coach by traveling to Section 1AAA rival Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 8. New Prague's first home game will be Thursday, Dec. 10, in a rematch of last year's State Tournament quarterfinal game against Mankato West.
