6 apply for school board

Six people - including two former board members - have applied for an open spot on the New Prague Area School Board.

Those applying are former board members Marty Beckius and Virginia Lucier Hoyt, along with Sherry Brooks, Pam Jewison, Mike Liepold and Tammy Pexa.

According to Superintendent Craig Menozzi, the school board will hold interviews with the applicants the week of July 26 and meet in early August to choose a new board member. That member will be sworn in during a special meeting to be held Monday, Aug. 9.

The person chosen will complete the term of Dan Carlson, who resigned effective July 1. The term expires December 31, 2011.
