Absentee ballots available for September 9 primary election

Eligible voters who will be unable to go their polling place on Election Day may vote by absentee ballot. People may vote by absentee ballot for the following reasons: they will be absent from the precinct on election day, illness or disability, observance of a religious holiday or religious discipline or service as an election judge in another precinct.

Applications for absentee ballots are available from county election offices.

In Le Sueur County, ballots are available at the Le Sueur County Auditor's Office, 88 South Park Avenue in Le Center.

In Scott County, voters can obtain a ballot at the Scott County Government Center, 200 Fourth Ave. W in Shakopee.

In Rice County, applications are available from the Rice County Auditor/Treasurer's office at the Rice County Government Services Building, 320 N.W. 3rd Street, Suite 5 in Faribault.

Applications are available by contacting the respective county officials, and can also be obtained online at the Minnesota Secretary of State's website at www.sos.state.mn.us.

In addition to regular office hours, each county office will have open hours Saturday, Sept. 6, for voters to obtain absentee ballots.

Anyone with questions should contact their county election office.
