Activities give students opportunities

This week’s edition of The New Prague Times is a special one.
For about the past 25 years, The Times has published a special section dedicated to the non-athletic activities at New Prague High School.
E
very week during the school year, this newspaper dedicates several pages to the high school athletes who represent their school in competitions. But the athletic activities are just a part of a wide range of activities offered by the schools. That’s why we created this annual special supplement.
The section started out by paying tribute to the arts students - those involved in drama, speech, choir and band. In time, we began to include a wide range of activities, including clubs, service organizations and academic competitions.

Not everyone wants to be an athlete. It is important for the schools to offer a wide range of activities that give students a chance to excel. And indeed New Prague students have excelled, whether it be on stage, as part of a choir, with the speech team, raising money for charities through the National Honor Society or Student Council, or supporting their fellow students through STARS Tutors, PROUD or other programs.

This section would not be possible without the cooperation of Rachel Harmon and the school yearbook staff, which provides the photos, and thanks to the many advisors who took the time to tell us about their organizations. With their help, students have many opportunities to achieve, and these opportunities will help the students to excel and achieve not only now, but in the future.
