Albert Lea man killed in crash near Le Center

A 40-year-old Albert Lea man died last week after his car was involved in a crash at the intersection of Le Sueur County Roads 114 and 24, just north of Le Center.

According to the Le Sueur county Sheriff’s Department, Kurt Knudtson was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on County Road 24 when it struck a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by Lisa Holicky, 33, of New Prague.

Knudtson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was found inside the Grand Am, which was on its top in a farm field. He was treated on the scene by Le Center fire and rescue personnel and sheriff’s deputies and was transported to Queen of Peace Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Holicky sustained minor injuries.

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash, with assistance from the Mankato office of the Minnesota State Patrol.
