Alice J. McMahon, 96
Alice J. McMahon, 96, of Elkton, died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006.
She was born on February 18, 1910, at Bruce, SD, to Charles and Jennie Roach. She received her education in Bruce.
Alice married George McMahon on January 6, 1928, at Bruce. They farmed in the Bruce area until 1936 when they moved to Elkton, SD. They moved to Madison, WI, in 1942 and returned to Elkton in 1945. They owned the Elkton Cafe and later the Knotty Pine Supper Club. Alice became a resident at Cozy Corner Assisted Living in Elkton in 2005. She was a member of United Parish of Elkton and a former member of the United Methodist Church.
Alice is survived by a son, Harold (Therese), New Prague; six grandchildren, Margaret, James, Robert, David, Richard and Elizabeth; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband on June 4, 1984; infant son, Robert; her parents, four brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation began at 4 p.m. on Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Elkton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at United Parish of Elkton. Rev. Daren Junker officiated.
Pallbearers were Margaret, Robert, Richard, James, David and Peggy McMahon, and Elizabeth Murphy.
Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Bruce, SD.
