Alma Pint Nytes, 89

Alma M. Pint Nytes, 89, life-long resident of St. Benedict/New Prague, died on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

She was born on September 26, 1916, in Helena Township, Scott County, to T. Ewald and Elizabeth (Wolf) Steinhoff. Alma attended St. Benedict Parochial School.

On February 18, 1941, she married Joseph J. Pint at St. Benedict. They lived on a farm west of St. Benedict and raised eight children. After the death of her husband, Joseph, Alma married Leonard J. Nytes on August 11, 1983. Alma was a housewife and also worked at Brinktons Manufacturing in Le Center for 15 years. Alma was a member of the Catholic Aid Society, St. Benedict Council of Catholic Women and New Prague Senior Citizens. She enjoyed summer vacations at the lake, playing cards, sewing trauma dolls for charities, quilting and gardening.

She is survived by four sons, David (Joan), New Prague, Earl (Judy), Jordan, Jeron (Marilyn), Jordan, Marlin (Ruth) Pint, Belle Plaine; four daughters, Lois (James) Giesen, Union Hill, Lora Jean (Joe) Moylan, Brookston, Adele Pint, Chanhassen, Jayne (Ken) Palma, Kenyon; sister, Marie Breimhorst, Jordan; brother, Erwin (Erma) Steinhoff, New Prague; sister-in-law, Bette Steinhoff, Jordan; 12 grandchildren, DeAnn (Jeff) Gerdes, Steven (Lori) Pint, Michael (Julie) Vigness-Pint, Christopher and Jeffrey Pint, Pam (Joe) Glisczinski, Kari (Bob) Holen, Debra (Troy) DeGree, Julie, Amanda, Andrew and Joseph Pint; four great-grandchildren, Mallory and Megan Glisczinski, Sophia and Emma Gerdes.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Joseph J. Pint on April 10, 1978, and Leonard J. Nytes on April 12, 1998; grandson, Charles Giesen; brothers, Norbert and Raymond Steinhoff; sister, Clara Von Bank; brothers-in-law, Isadore Von Bank and Martin Breimhorst.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Rev. Elgar Bockenfeld, OFM, officiated.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Steven, Michael, Christopher, Jeffrey, Andrew and Joseph Pint.

Interment was at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in St. Benedict.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with parish wake prayers at 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
