Ambroz signs with U of M

New Prague native Seth Ambroz has signed a letter of intent to play hockey at the University of Minnesota, beginning next year.

Ambroz played two years at New Prague High School before moving on to the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League.

Had he stayed in New Prague, Ambroz would have been a high school junior this year, but he has accelerated his studies taking online classes and is scheduled to graduate this winter, making him eligible to sign during the November early signing period. He plans to enroll at the U of M next fall.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 205 pound forward has 10 points on seven goals and three assists in 12 games for the Lancers this season. He also played three games with the United States U-17 team in the Three-Nations Cup in Slovakia earlier this month, leading the team with five goals.

He is the third member of his family to sign a Division I hockey tender. His brother Matt, a 2005 New Prague graduate, is a junior at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and his sister Kacey, a 2008 graduate, is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Their parents are Bob and Sue Ambroz of New Prague.
