Andrew Robertson, 92
Andrew Demar Robertson, 92, of Owatonna, died at the Owatonna Hospital on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
Andrew was born June 29, 1921, in Eagleville, MO, a son of John and Essie ( S m i t h ) Robertson. Andy came to Minnesota at the age of 14 with his 16- year-old brother to work as a field hand near Ellendale. He married Lillian Kubicek on May 12, 1941, at St. Hyacinth Church in Owatonna. He worked at the Owatonna Canning Company, and Andy and Lillian farmed south of Owatonna since 1953. They milked Jerseys, raised hogs, chickens and ducks. He loved his children and loved to hunt, especially deer. He took great pride in tracking and shooting game. He enjoyed playing cards and predicting the weather. In later years, he drove truck and tractor for other farmers. He was always interested in buffalo and bought a pair when he was 80, raising them as pets. Andy worked for over 20 years for the city as ice guard at Morehouse Chalet, while Lillian rented skates and sold concessions.
He is survived by seven children Maurice, Kenneth (Kathy), Curt (Sue), Owatonna, Ann (Jon) Brehmer, Plainview, Barb (Steve) Cervenka, Webster; Cathy (Al) Martin, Sharon Ringhofer, Owatonna; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years just two weeks ago; his brothers and sisters; an infant daughter; two great-grandsons Brian Wohlers and Jesse Saufferer; and son-in-law Ron Ringhofer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Brick-Meger Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., and Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Memorials preferred to St. Mary's School, or to Minnesota Pheasants Forever.
