Angela Brandel, 92
Angela H. Brandel, 92, of Jordan (St. Patrick), died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Central Health Care in Le Center.
Angela was born February 21, 1915, in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, a daughter of Joseph and Susan (Leick) Hartung. She attended St. Andrew's Catholic School in Fairfax and Fairfax High School. On June 14, 1937, she married Lawrence J. Brandel at St. Andrew's Church and was a homemaker. Angela was active in the Fairfax Catholic Aid and later in the St. Patrick Parish where she was a member. She also played tournament cards in Jordan.
She is survived by her husband; children, Helen Pomije, Montgomery, John (Kathleen) Brandel, Shakopee, and Michael (Carmen) Brandel, Jordan; four sisters, Betty Zangel, Necedah, WI, Stella (Gordy) Rieke, Fairfax, Mary Ann Wesselmann, New Ulm, and Germaine (Leroy) Kuglin, Fridley; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Donald Pomije; great-granddaughter, Baylie Lau; three brothers and three sisters, Nick, Joseph and Aloysius Hartung, Margaret Hartung, Chrisense Grosem and Sr. Joseph Marie.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at the Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Lake, with Rev. Orlando Tatel officiating.
Interment was at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Fairfax. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Ken, Ron, David, Steven, Douglas and Daniel Pomije, Joe, John, James and Philip Brandel.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
