Ann Sheridan, 83

Ann A. Sheridan, 83, of Kilkenny, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waterville.

Ann Adeline Sheridan was born on June 29, 1925, in Faribault, a daughter of Andrew L. and Ann (Dynes) Sheridan. Ann's mother passed away on June 30, 1925. Ann and her dad made their home with Joe and Mayme (Dynes) Sheridan, Ann's uncle and aunt, and her grandmother, Mary Ellen Dynes. On November 30, 1937, her dad married Nell Corbett at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Paul and Ann continued to make her home with her Aunt Mayme and Uncle Joe. She attended St. Canice Catholic School in Kilkenny and Montgomery High School in Montgomery. Ann worked for Sage Hardware and Miller Hardware in Kilkenny. She was a clerk in the Kilkenny Post Office for 15 years and retired on December 28, 1988 as the postmistress, a position she held for 10 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Canice Catholic Church, where she took care of the altar linens and flowers from 1973 to 2004. Due to health concerns, she retired from that position in 2004. She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Canice, a lifetime member of John Balfe Post 380 American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Le Sueur County Historical Society. Ann was the local correspondent for the Montgomery Messenger and the Lake Region Life (formerly the Waterville Advance) for over 40 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with friends. Ann enjoyed special friendships with Judy Gregor, Leora Hogan, Mary Sheridan, Diane Wolpern and Joan Glende.

She is survived by numerous cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; aunts, uncles and cousins Dick Dynes, Eugene and Mae Mach, Jim Sheridan, Don Mack, Bill Mach, Dolly Gale and her stepmother Nell Sheridan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny, with Rev. Ronald Dahlheimer officiating and Rev. Cory Rohlfing and Rev. David Barrett concelebrating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny. Casketbearers will be Gene Mach, Kevin Taaffe Jr., Phil Sheridan, Jim Warnemunde, Pete McGillen, Dale Hamele, John Le Brun and Richard Hackett.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Canice Church.

Arrangements are with the Keohen Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery.
