Anna Ruzicka
Anna R. Ruzicka, 97, of New Prague, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
Born August 19, 1912, in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Anna was a daughter of Albert and Emma (Schoenbauer) Flicek. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in New Prague and was a lifelong resident of the New Prague and Veseli area. She married Frank J. Ruzicka on October 10, 1933, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Anna was a homemaker and also worked at Schumacher's New Prague Hotel. She was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and the New Prague Senior Citizens. Anna enjoyed traveling and did baking (including divinity, strudel and kolacky) out of her home for many people.
She is survived by children Rosemary Tuma, Lonsdale, Francis Fritz Ruzicka, New Prague, Shirley (George) Plekkenpol, Shakopee and Ann Eischens, Prior Lake; two sisters Agnes Trnka, Northfield and Rose Zvanovec, New Prague; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 22, 1995; two sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law Francis Tuma, Judy C. Ruzicka, Judy M. Ruzicka and Jerome Eischens; her parents; and siblings Charles Flicek, Mary Flicek, Emily Trnka and Helen Bruzek.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.
Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were grandsons Tom Tuma, Dale Tuma, David Tuma, Mike Ruzicka, Mark Plekkenpol and Gary Plekkenpol.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with a CCW Rosary held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
