Area youth help fine feathered friends

By Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

The sound of electric drills and the smell of wood was in the air at the KC Hall in New Prague on Sunday, Feb. 27, as the Scott-Le Sueur Chapter of the Minnesota Waterfowl Association held its annual Wood Duck Box Building Day.

There were 192 youth, ages 16 and younger, who came with family or friends to help build 300 duck houses. After constructing a duck house, each youngster could take it home. The purpose of the project is to provide a nesting spot for the waterfowl and to get children and teens involved with nature.

This is our first time. It's pretty cool
