Audrey Donn Schoenbauer, 86

Audrey Donn Schoenbauer, born on August 21, 1930, passed away May 5, 2016 at the age of 86.

Audrey was a trailblazer that didn't conform to the preconceived role of the ‘50s and ‘60s housewife. She earned a Masters in Sociology from the University of Hawaii and was actively involved in the women's equal rights movement against considerable opposition from the mainstream midcentury ideologies.

She taught at UCCS and CSU Pueblo, and gave 17 years of compassionate service as a case manager and supervisor at the El Paso County Department of Social Services. While she was progressive with women's issues, she always maintained her foundational values of family, kindness and friendship.

In retirement, she studied Victorian culture and fashion, enjoyed the Broadmoor Waltz Club, and founded the Victorian Social Club. Audrey heroically survived pancreatic cancer for four years inspiring all those around her with her positive "live in the moment" approach.

This elegant and delightful lady is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ralph, her five loving children (Christopher, Cynthia, Steve, Valerie, and Saralyn) and five remarkable grandchildren (Rachel, Megan, Kelsey, Danny, and Quinn).

Audrey will be sorely missed as there were so many that deeply loved her. Her strong positive legacy will live on through her family and friends. There will be no service at her request.
