Barbara Mader, 79
Barbara M. Mader, 79, of New Prague, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at her home.
Barbara was born December 8, 1928, in Belle Plaine Township, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Barten) Schommer. She grew up in Belle Plaine, attended Belle Plaine Public School and moved to New Prague after her marriage to Leo Mader on October 6, 1956, at Belle Plaine. Barbara was a homemaker who loved gardening, crocheting and collecting, including dolls, bells, Christmas villages and spoons.
She is survived by her husband; children Kenneth (Barb) Mader, Waterville, Kevin (Carol) Mader, New Prague, Patricia Mader, Montgomery and David (Dawn) Mader, Montgomery; siblings Genevieve Schommer, Adeline Oelfke and Joseph Schommer, all of Belle Plaine; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Mildred Schommer.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with Sister Ginny Heldorfer officiating.
Interment was at the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Matthew Mader, Jonathon Mader, Michael Mader, Brandon Mader, Breanne Mader and Bethany Mader.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
