Baseball team loses to Mayo, Northfield

The New Prague Trojan baseball team dropped a pair of games last week, falling to Rochester Mayo 11-10 and Northfield 4-1. The team is now 0-4 on the season, and was scheduled to begin its Wright County Conference East schedule Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Family Catholic.

The Trojans host Delano at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 20, and will host Owatonna at 7 p.m. Friday, April 21, both at Memorial Park. New Prague is on the road for a pair of conference games next week, at Waconia on Monday, April 24, and Hutchinson Tuesday, April 25.

Spartans 11, Trojans 10 New Prague traveled to Rochester Thursday, April 13, and squandered a 7-0 lead, allowing 11 runs over the final three innings in an 11-10 loss to Rochester Mayo.

Things started out good for the Trojans, who got a run in the second when Will Busch singled to drive in Mason Mayer.

The Trojans added six more in the fourth, Brandon Kincade doubled and scored on a Jacob Mader double. Will Busch reached on an error and Nathan Berg and Carter Seymour each drove in runs with base hits. Kincade had a bases-loaded walk to bring in a run and Colton Devine scored on a wild pitch. 

Mayo began its comeback with three runs in the fourth, but the Trojans scored two runs in the fifth on a bases loaded walk and an error.

Mayo scored three more in the fifth, making it a 9-6 game, then added five in the sixth to take an 11-9 lead.
