Bernadine Janda, 85
Bernadine M. “Deanie” Janda, 85, of Le Center, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at her home in Le Center.
Born July 7, 1920 at Kilkenny, she was a daughter of William and Mande (Hackett) Miller. Bernadine attended Bethlehem Academy in Faribault and married Ed Janda, Sr. on July 24, 1940 at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny. She worked for the St. Mary’s Catholic School lunch program in Le Center and was a member of the St. Mary’s CCW and the Hide-Away’s Viscious Circle. Bernadine enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, baking, camping, fishing and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Wayne) Schloesser of Le Center and Carol (Alvin) Wagner of Union Hill; three sons, Ed, Jr. (Kim) Janda of Le Center, Jerry (Jodi) Janda of Northfield and Gary Janda of Shakopee; two sisters, Alice (Norb) Cemensky of Lexington Township and Irene Zelenka of Le Center; and one brother, Harold (Mary) Miller of Montgomery; 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Margaret Novotny; and grandsons David, Dennis and Daniel Wagner.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center, with Rev. Tim Power officiating. Giftbearers were Wayne Schloesser, Alvin Wagner, Kim Janda and Jodi Janda.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center. Pallbearers were Tim and Gary Schloesser, Nick, Matt, David and Chris Janda, Rick and Todd Wagner.
Visitation was held Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements were with the Le Center Funeral Home.
