Beyond expectations

The surprise of the spring sports season has been the success of the Trojan girls softball team.

First-year coach Jess Hodgson's squad swept a doubleheader with Red Wing Monday, lifting its season record to 7-3, and giving them a five-game winning streak.

The Trojan softball team has struggled in recent years. The team won just two games in each of the past two seasons and struggled both offensively and on the field.
