Big weekend ahead for Seth Ambroz

The eyes of the hockey world will be focused on St. Paul and the Xcel Energy Center this weekend, as the National Hockey League will hold its annual entry draft Friday and Saturday.

Hockey coaches, executives, scouts, writers and amateur players from around the world will be in attendance.

So will one 18-year-old hockey player from New Prague. Seth Ambroz will be hoping to hear his name called during Friday's first round.

Ambroz, son of Bob and Sue Ambroz of New Prague, is rated the 32nd-best player available according to the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau. That means the 6-foot, 2-inch, 220-pound wing, could go late in the first or early in the second round. He has been invited to attend the event, held just 45 minutes from his hometown.

Ambroz was in Toronto recently for the NHL's scouting combine. More than 100 players from around the world were there, going through a battery of physical tests and interviews with various clubs, all hoping to get an idea of which prospects have the most potential.
