Board gets update on construction work

The New Prague Area School Board held a short meeting Monday, July 11, and said goodbye to their board room for the next few months.

Construction at the Central Education Campus will spread into the board’s meeting room, and for the next few months, the board will meet at the Media Center at Falcon Ridge Elementary School in New Prague.

here will not be a second meeting in July. The next board meeting will be Monday, Aug. 8, with a work session scheduled for 6 p.m.

Construction was part of the agenda as well. Superintendent Tim Dittberner updated board members on the projects at the middle school and CEC buildings. He said the middle school project continues to run ahead of schedule, and the district expects to move back into the building in early August. Custodial staff will clean up the campus and have everything ready to go for the start of teacher workshops.

He cautioned board members that the Christmas vacation target date for moving into the new portions of the building was optimistic.

"Realistically, it might not be ready until mid-January, but Craig Most (District Operations Director) is optimistic that it will be done by Christmas. I just don’t want to get hopes up," Dittberner cautioned.
