Board ponders state test results

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

At its Wednesday, Sept. 5, meeting the New Prague Area School Board reviewed the school district's results in the Minnesota Comprehensive exams. While there were parts that concerned the school board, there were other areas they felt the district could be proud of.

Colleen Cardenuto, director of curriculum and testing for New Prague Area Schools, presented the information. She noted the district's results in math and reading in the schools. Those results were summarized in the September 4 edition of The New Prague Times.

The math results brought a mixture of reactions as students scored well at the elementary level, but dropped in high school. The average proficiency level for the state at the elementary level was 61 percent. New Prague's three elementary schools all scored above that with Eagle View at 81 percent and Raven Stream and Falcon Ridge each getting scores of 76 percent.

At the high school level, the state score was 32 percent, while New Prague High School was at 31 percent.

We should never fall below the state average
