Boys fall to Edina, run away from Albert Lea
New Prague High School's boys basketball team split a pair of non-conference road games last week. The Trojans lost to Edina 69-58, then defeated Albert Lea 76-40.
New Prague (7-2) was scheduled to travel to Jordan Tuesday. They will host Waconia in a non-conference game Friday, Jan. 16, then begin the Missota Conference season at Prior Lake Tuesday, Jan. 20. That game will be the first game of a boy-girl doubleheader, with the boys game starting at 6 p.m.
Hornets 69, Trojans 58
The Trojans trailed by just one point at halftime, but Edina pulled away in the second half on their way to a 69-58 win at the Edina Community Center gym.
New Prague was led by Connor O'Brien, who had 23 points, while Danny Geiger added 16 and Sam Dittberner had 10.
O'Brien also had a strong game on the boards, pulling down 12 rebounds. He added five blocked shots. New Prague outrebounded the Hornets 33-28. Dittberner dished out eight assists to go with his 10 points.
The Trojans had trouble hanging on to the ball, committing 19 turnovers. The Hornets had just seven.

Trojans 76, Tigers 40
The Trojans put the game away early, jumping to a 17-0 lead against the host Tigers. New Prague led 42-12 at halftime and continued to build on the lead in the second half.
Twelve different players found the scoreboard for New Prague. O'Brien led the team with 19 points while Geiger added 17. Alex Dittberner came off the bench to score 10 points.
Isaac Cross pulled down eight rebounds and had eight points to prove an inside presence. Geiger had five steals and the Trojans committed just nine turnovers, while the Tigers had 27.
