Boys hockey will start Section play next week

The New Prague High School boys hockey team will begin Section 1A play next week at home. But as of press time Wednesday, the date and opponent had not been determined.

Section seeding will be done Friday. The Trojans (17-6, 8-4 Missota prior to Tuesday's game with Red Wing) are expecting to be seeded anywhere from third through fifth. The top four seeds will get first round byes and host a quarterfinal game on Thursday, Feb. 21. The fifth through eighth seeds will host first round games on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Albert Lea and Mankato West have the two best records in the section and have split two games in the regular season. Rochester Lourdes has six losses, but the only loss in the section was to New Prague, while they have wins over both West and Albert Lea. Red Wing and New Prague are also in the mix for one of the top four seeds, with the results of Tuesday's game having a major bearing on seeding.

The Trojans have been on a roll since their last loss, to Holy Angels January 29, having won four straight games.
