Boys place in the middle of indoor track and field meet

 

There is still a significant amount of snow outside, too much to hold a track and field meet, but Tri-City United didn’t have to worry about that at MRC indoor track meet held at Mankato State on Saturday March 23.

“Overall I thought we did all right. We have a lot of new faces this year, so it is a matter of finding out the best events for  our  athletes,” said Coach Brian Mikel. “This is a starting point, and we will continue to work hard and improve from here.”
Some of the highlights include the 4X800 meter relay team of Max Arroyo, Thomas Franek, Jake Schwartz, and Marty McGuire placing third with a time of 9:48.
John Christian placed fourth in the 55m high hurdles with a time of 9.17. Mic Kohnert placed sixth in the 1600m in a time of 5:16, and Ben Pichotta placed seventh in the same race in a time of 5:20. 
Tadd Stasney placed second in the 400m dash in a time of 56.8 seconds.  Gabino Rodriguez finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:02.  
John Christian placed fourth in the 55m intermediate hurdles in a time of 9.18 seconds.  
The 4X400m relay team of Tadd Stasney, Nicolaj Seitz, Michael McCrady and Carter Rynda placed fourth in a time of 3:58. 
Jordan Trnka placed second in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 10 inches. Jamison Beulke placed fourth in the long jump with leap of 18 feet, three inches.  Beulke also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 9.5 inches.
Scott McCabe finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, five inches. Marty McGuire finished fifth in the pole vault with a leap of eight feet.   In the high jump, Max Arroyo took third at five feet, six inches; McCabe and  Christian tied fourth place at five feet, three inches.  Marty McGuire finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:17, and Max Arroyo finished right behind him in third with a time of 2:18.
 
Next action
Next up for the varsity track team is a meet in Belle Plaine on Thursday, April 4. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.
The team’s first home meet is the TCU Invitational scheduled for Saturday, April 13, beginning at 11 a.m. The event is scheduled to have 11 schools compete.
