Boys skaters win three straight

The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team ground out a couple of wins against Farmington and Shakopee last week, then picked up a big win against Holy Angels Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The Trojans have a record of 12-7-2 (9-1-1 Missota) and were tied for first with Holy Angels in the Missota Conference. Details on the win over Holy Angels will be in next week’s issue of The Times.

New Prague will travel to Chaska Thursday, Feb. 7, for a 7:15 p.m. game, then head to Rochester’s Graham Arena for a 2 p.m. game Saturday, Feb. 9, against Rochester Lourdes. The Trojans play at Red Wing Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Trojans 4, Tigers 2 The Trojans scored three goals in the final period to claim a come-from-behind 4- 2 win over Farmington Tuesday, Jan. 29, at home.

New Prague took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on a power play goal by Ben Witt, from Alex Gregor. However the Tigers took command with two goals early in the second and led 2-1 at the second intermission.

The Tigers committed just three penalties, but all were costly as the Trojans converted each into a power play goal. Jake Klein tied the game at 2-2 with a power play at 3:43, with assists from Cody Meyer and Seth Kriha. Jack Pexa scored with a man advantage at 8:05 to give the Trojans a 3-2 lead. Ryan Drazan and Lucas Binger got assists.

Meyer added an empty net goal in the final minute to give the Trojans the two-goal win.

New Prague goaltender Evan Bisek stopped 22 of 24 shots for the win.

Trojans 1, Sabers 0 New Prague scored the only goal of the game on a power play midway through the second period as the Trojans claimed a 1-0 win at Shakopee Thursday, Jan. 31.

Gregor got the goal, with assists from Meyer and Pexa, at 9:15 of the period.

The Trojans had a 21-16 advantage in shots through two periods, but the Sabers evened things out in the third, outshooting New Prague 13-8, but Evan Bisek was solid in goal and earned the shutout.
