Bulldogs win two

The Bulldog Hockey Team, which also includes skaters from Tri-City United School, won two games against Austin and Dodge County.

The Bulldogs hosted Austin High School on Saturday, and started out the game in tough shape, but pulled it together to seal the win.

“We played a miserable first period, but the way we bounced back was impressive,” said Bulldogs coach Shawn Carlson. “We played a really solid second and third period.”

Bulldog Luke Regner, assisted by Brett Zallak started off the game by scoring 1:57 into the first period.  Regner added to the score near the end of the period with another goal, this time assisted by Sam Wenner and Austin Braun.

Like the coach said, the team came together in the third period scoring three goals. Wenner, assisted by Regner and Braun, scored. Ryan Moriarty, assisted by Zallak and Wenner, scored the second, and Wenner, assisted by Chris Amsden, finished the scoring at the end of the period.

The Bulldogs saved 26 goals, and Austin saved 20. 

The skater leader for Austin was Ethan Larson, and for the Bulldogs it was Austin Braun. Amdsen was the goalie leader.

Dodge County 1

On January 4, the Bulldogs hit the road to Dodge County to take on the Wildcats and won with a 4-1 score.

Carlson called the first game and win of the new year a great way to start.

“We probably played our best 51 minutes tonight,” he said. “We really gave a nice team effort and it was the perfect way to start the new year.”

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Braun who was assisted by Wenner at 2:30 in the first period. The second goal came a short while later when combination of Braun and Wenner push another puck through.

The Bulldogs’ third goal in came by Brock Solomon, assisted by Wenner and Braun. That was followed up by Ryan Hoehn, assisted by Ryan Moriarty, all in the second period. 

Braun and Wenner were named the game’s skater leaders, and Mitch Sobotta of Dodge County was named the goalie leader.
