Burton Block Jr., 60
Burton James Block Jr., 60, of Le Center, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
He was born on October 8, 1947, in Detroit, MI, a son of Burt and Eleanor (Vaillancourt) Block Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He married Linda Blaschko on April 20, 1968, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center. Burt was a lifetime resident of Le Center and was a licensed plumber, working with his dad. He also drove bus for the Le Center Schools and worked for Lyle's Welding in Le Center. Burt was a member and past commander of the Le Center American Legion Post, served on the Le Center Ambulance crew and was a member of the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Posse.
He is survived by his wife; sons Joe Block, New Prague and Kelly Block, Le Center; daughters Jenni Figueroa, Le Center and Dani Gegenheimer, New Prague; his father; brother Bob Block, Le Center; sister Carol Phillips, Missouri; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Le Center, with military honors provided by the Le Center Area Veteran's Honor Guard.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Center in the spring.
Visitation was held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
