Burton Grimm, 82

Burton Arnold Grimm, 82, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in New Prague. Burton was born on April 3, 1930, on the family farm in Rice County, a son of Frank and Carrie (Gustafson) Grimm. He attended country school and then mechanical school in Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict (1951-1952). Burton married Ludmilla Novak on March 17, 1951, at Fort Rucker, AL. He owned and operated the Skelly Station with his brother- in-law, Clayton Novak, from 1962-1977, during which time they started N&G Auto Repair and opened in 1977. He worked as the main mechanic until his retirement, when mechanics became his hobby, along with fishing, woodworking, playing cards and spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Burton was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife; children Don (Lorna) Grimm, Custer, SD, Diane (Cary) Blank, Le Center, Carol (Gary) Pelowski, Le Center, Darlene Filan, Montgomery, Jeff Grimm, Montgomery, Steve (Mona) Grimm, Montgomery, Bruce (Tara) Grimm, Arlington, and Regina (Dave) Deutsch, New Prague; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings Erna (Myron) Quam, Kenyon, Edna (Alfred) Quam, Kenyon, and Frank (Darlene) Grimm, Arizona; and sister-in-law Mary Grimm, Faribault. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Dorothy (Millard) Musegades, Evelyn (Ralph) Witte, and Everett Grimm; and grandson Jonathan Miller. Funeral services were held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Friday, Oct. 26, at 10:30 a.m. Burial was at the Trebon Cemetery in Shieldsville, with military honors provided by the Montgomery Area Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation was held at the church on Friday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Arrangements were with the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
