Can’t decide who to vote for? Do your homework
By Chuck Kajer
Back in 1984, I was living in Fillmore County and, having an interest in politics, attended my precinct caucus in Chatfield.
Being one of only a handful of people in the school auditorium, I became a delegate to the Fillmore County DFL convention that year. I had my preference for one senate candidate, and when a representative of another candidate came to speak to the convention, I listened carefully.
The candidate was a lifelong Minneapolis resident and longtime Hennepin County commissioner…a tough sell in a rural county.
