Carolyn Harms, 92

  Carolyn Harms, 92, of Montgomery, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. 

Carolyn was born in Friendship, IN, on November 18, 1917, a daughter of Wilkie S. and Edna (Elrod) Lemon. She graduated from Cross Plains High School, Cross Plains, IN, and Purdue University in 1940 with a teaching degree. She married Van Deursen Harms on December 26, 1941 at Tyson Temple in Versailles, IN.  They lived in Paducah, KY for about four years. They moved to Chicago after the war and lived there many years before moving to Montgomery.

She is survived by four children Johanna Radzwill, Minneapolis, Jan C. (Karen) Harms, Plover, WI, Douglas J. (Jane) Harms, New Prague and Barbara J. (Dan) Taylor, Christiansburg, VA; a brother James (Pat) Lemon, Batesville, IN; brother-in-law Abel Hooton, Versailles, IN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sisters Mary Chandler and Elizabeth Hooton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m., at the Straton Karsteter Funeral home in Versailles, IN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will be at Benham Cemetery in Benham, IN.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
