Cheri Wencl, 40
Cheri Danielle Wencl, 40, of St. Peter, died suddenly on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Cheri was born on March 2, 1972, in St. Peter, a daughter of William L. and Cynthia M. (Hawkes) Wencl. She graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School in 1990 and from Ripon College, Ripon, WI, in 1994. Cheri was employed by Jones Metal Products in Mankato as a Human Resource Manager. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was active with the Women’s Leadership Group at the YWCA, the American Heart Association as a volunteer, and the Autism Walk. Cheri enjoyed spending time with her cat, crocheting, painting, reading, arts and crafts, and theatre. She was a talented musician, playing French horn and singing.
She is survived by Riley; her parents William Wencl and Cyndi (Dick) Allen; a brother Bill (Nicole) Wencl; niece and nephew Alexis and Billy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and an aunt Darlene Freerksen.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in St. Peter, with the Rev. Charles Christensen officiating.
Burial was at Kasota Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Peter Funeral Home-Klein Chapel, and continued one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
