City honors Westall on retirement
Water operator Jim Westall was honored by the New Prague City Council at its Wednesday, July 5, meeting. The council approved a resolution recognizing Westall upon his retirement and for his more than 11 years of service in the city’s Water Department.
Westall’s career with the city began on June 20, 2006. Before that he was a mechanic for Northwest Airlines for 21 and a half years. He said he worked as part of an engine crew for a 747 for 10 years and then worked in the airline’s shop. He explained there was a strike. “They didn’t call everybody back,” he said. “It worked out good for me,” he added. “I got this job, then I was only five minutes from work instead of 45 minutes.”
Originally from South Dakota, Westall is married to Connie (Blaschko), who was from Le Center.
