City parks up for adoption

Diane Hrabe, Staff Writer

If your organization is looking for a community service project, look no further. The City of New Prague invites local service groups to adopt and care for a city park. Currently there are nine city parks and some adjacent nature areas that are in need of litter pickup, debris cleanup in the playground areas and around park signs, can and broken bottle disposal and wood carpet replacement and raking in playground areas.

The New Prague Girl Scouts currently take care of North Side Park, and the New Prague Boy Scouts are in charge of keeping Southside Park clean. The most recent adoptive organization to come forward is the New Prague High School National Honor Society, agreeing to tend to Heritage Park.

That leaves Memorial Park (east and west sides), Philipps Park, Foundry Hill Park, Greenway Park, Settlers Park (east side and green meadow area) and Sliding Hill Skate Park. Other outlying areas up for adoption include Philipps Park Creek (running through Philipps Park) as well as the ditches running through Greenway Park, behind the trails in both Highview and Heritage additions.

The main focus of this program is for you and your organization to help us keep our city parks clean
