City seeks applicants for boards and commission

By Patrick Fisher

New Prague is searching for residents to serve on city boards and commissions. There are openings on all five of the boards and commissions and, as of December 27, there were only four applications.

Two of those applications were for the two openings on the Golf Board, both three-year terms, and one was for a student representative position on the Park Board, a one-year term.

The city is also looking to fill openings on the Municipal Utilities Commission (one four-year term), the Planning and Zoning Commission (one four-year term), the Economic Development Authority (EDA) (one six-year term) and the Park Board (one four-year term).

Deadline to apply is Thursday, Dec. 30. The New Prague City Council is expected to review the applications and make a decision in January. Applicants who are confirmed are expected to begin their terms that same month.

The following terms expire on January 1: Park Board (J.C. Ingebrand and student rep. Jessica Doig), EDA (Jake Jacobson), Planning and Zoning (Bob Gilman) Municipal Utilities Commission (Fred Roberts) and Golf Board (LeRoy Mamer and Jim Morris)

Applications received so far have been from Morris and Beth Krouse, both for the Golf Board, and Josh Gebhart for the student position on the Park Board.

All of the groups meet on a monthly basis. Meeting times of the Park Board are the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., the EDA meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m., the Municipal Utilities Commission meets on the third Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m., the Golf Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and the Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
