After three weeks of work, New Prague's new water tower will receive its final coat of paint this week.
New Prague Public Works Director Dennis Seurer said the 155-foot tower along Fourth Street NW on the west side of the city was to have the community's name and logo painted across it by the end of this week. Crews from Runstrom Coating, Inc., of Cloquet began adding the name and Czech lions on Tuesday. The painting of the tower is one of the final pieces of the project that cost approximately $1.25 million.
Construction of the tower by crews from Maguire Iron was completed on June 2. The structure will have a 500,000 gallons capacity. Before the tank is considered operational, tests will be done this summer on water in the tank. After the testing is completed, the tower will be connected directly to the city's water system.
