Clarence F. (Pat) Tuma, 88

Clarence F. (Pat) Tuma, 88, of Le Sueur died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at his home.

He was born on September 15, 1917, in New Prague to Frank A. and Clara (Schlauderhoff) Tuma. He attended school in New Prague.

Mr. Tuma married Edna E. Sparke on January 15, 1941, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church parsonage in Le Center. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant from February of 1942 until January of 1946. He did part time barbering while in the Army and after his discharge attended the Mohler Barber College in St. Paul. They lived in Le Center for nine years and moved to LeSueur where he opened Pat’s Barber Shop in 1950 and barbered for 53 years until ill health forced his retirement.

Pat was a member of First Lutheran Church in LeSueur, LeSueur American Legion, Union Lodge # 45 (Masonic Lodge) and was past city treasurer for the City of LeSueur. He was a longtime member and avid golfer at the LeSueur Country Club and had served as a board member. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, tying fishing flys and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edna; a son, Curt (Elizabeth) Tuma of St. Peter; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Betty) Tuma of Le Center and a sister-in-law, Marion Tuma of Le Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leonard and William Tuma.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur. The Rev. Carl Bruihler officiated.

Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center. Military rites were provided by the Le Sueur Honor Guard. Visitation was held one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday morning. Kolden Funeral Service of Le Sueur was in charge of arrangements.
