Class of 2016 seniors become TCU alumni

A total of 131 seniors from Tri-City United High School transitioned from students to alumni after they received diplomas during commencement ceremonies Friday night at TCU High School.

The ceremony highlighted the first graduating class of the TCU district to spend all four years together in high school after the consolidation of the Montgomery-Lonsdale and Le Center School Districts in 2012.

The special night was filled with speeches about life lessons relating to sunflowers, thank yous from student speakers, music from the band and choir, and happy seniors who received their diplomas, turned their tassels and tossed their hats in front of a packed gymnasium of family and friends.

After the commencement exercises ended, students gathered for the last time as a class in the E-Café, only this time as alumni, and to receive their actual signed diplomas to put in the frames they received on stage. As the students exited one last time, the TCU High School teachers formed two congratulatory lines and the students passed through, giving and receiving high-fives.
