Community pounces to raise money for cat rescuer

If you've ever had a pet in need, you more than likely will do whatever it takes to get them on the road to recovery.

On Sunday, the community came together to do whatever it took to support Dr. Jean Craig and her mission to improve the lives of stray and feral cats and kittens in the New Prague area.

"Pancakes For Paws" is a fundraising event for Wee3Beasties, the non-profit organization Craig founded. The fundraiser brought in more than $11,000, all of which will go toward the needs and care of the felines.

Now in its third year, the fundraiser began as a conversation in a living room and grew into a community-wide outpouring of support.

"This started as a 'how can we help Jean?" said organizer Dedee Little.

Little herself is a cat lover and is very passionate about cats and rescuing ferals. When she heard about Craig and her mission, she reached out to Craig and asked how she could be of help. Anything that would help the cats, she'd be there. She saw the impressive efforts Craig was making and wanted to do something more for her and the organization.
