Cops help kids with Christmas shopping
Twenty-five local children were beyond excited to take part in the second year of “Shop with a Cop” Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Children were paired with local law enforcement officers from across Le Sueur County as they made their way to Shopko Hometown in New Prague. Each of the children was allotted a certain amount of money to shop, picking out gifts for their families and gifts for themselves.
All of the shopping wouldn’t have happened without the generous and gracious donations from the Salvation Army, the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Youth Project and KCHK Radio.
After shopping, the participants headed to the New Prague Fire Department for a pizza dinner, donated by Casey’s General Store, and to wrap the gifts.
Children were referred to the project by Le Sueur County Human Services and local schools.
Taking part in the event were all Le Sueur County law enforcement agencies, the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Posse, the New Prague Fire Department, Le Sueur County Human Services, the local DNR Conservation Officers and the Minnesota State Patrol.
