Coronation for Lonsdale royalty is Saturday

Lori Nickel, Montgomery Messenger

Eight young women are competing for the chance to be Miss Lonsdale royalty. They are KayCee Bucher, Vicci Fehling, Kelly Goettl, Carla Kes, Stefanie Lange, Mandy Sirek, Jessica Skluzacek, and Lindsey Tirado. Each will each be judged in the categories of on-stage interview, community involvement, academic work and on-stage presence. They are also required to perform a Lonsdale Legend which involves acting out a historical figure from Lonsdale's past.

The Miss Lonsdale title carries with it a $1,500 scholarship, while Princess titles earn $1,000 in scholarships. Junior Ambassadors earn a $50 savings bond.

The candidates for Junior Lonsdale Ambassador and Little Lonsdale Ambassador have their very own pageant held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., at the Montgomery-Lonsdale Elementary School East.

The evening activities begin with the Queen's Dinner to honor the 2007-08 court of Miss Lonsdale Ashley Parsons, Princess Christine Stepka, Princess Jessica Sevcik, Little Ambassadors Emma Iverson and Amber Simon, and Junior Ambassadors Alyssa Parsons and Kayla Trcka. The dinner will be at the Lonsdale Legion at 5 p.m. with the coronation at 7 p.m. at Montgomery-Lonsdale Elementary East.

Candidates are:

KayCee Bucher: KayCee is the daughter of Mark Bucher and Patricia Barrick. She has one brother, Zane. KayCee is entering her senior year at New Prague High School and works for Treats of Lonsdale. She plans to attend college where she'll study to become a museum curator. She said her biggest strength is that she is not afraid to take on leadership roles. She is currently her 4-H club treasurer and was the captain of her school Speech team.

KayCee also loves to read and write, mostly poetry. She loves concert band where she plays a contra-bass clarinet, and pep band where she plays the clarinet.

I would like to become a Lonsdale Ambassador because I think it would be a very fun experience
