Council approves firm for helping find city administrator

The New Prague City Council approved two staff items at last Tuesday's meeting.
The council chose a firm to help it find a new city administrator and picked an intern for the planning department.
The council unanimously approved the Brimeyer Group, Inc., from among three organizations that submitted proposals for a search. Also submitting were Personal Decisions International (PDI) and Springsted Inc.
New Prague city administrator Jerry Bohnsack will be retiring in mid-July of this year. He said the fee from the three groups was pretty close. Brimeyer will charge approximately $16,000.
Council members noted they felt Brimeyer offered some items that weren't found in the other two proposals.
The company will meet with the council as a group and individually to discuss what qualifications it is looking for in a new city administrator.
Planning intern
Ryan Streff was chosen out of 11 applications as a planning intern. He is currently a graduate student at Minnesota State University Mankato.
New Prague city planner Renee Christianson is taking a leave of absence for approximately six months, beginning March 10 for personal reasons.
Streff will be under the supervision of city planner Ken Ondich.
