The Le Sueur County Board approved four conditional use permits as part of a brief agenda for its regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Permits granted at the recommendation of the planning and zoning commission and presented by Administrator Kathy Brockway were as follows:

-Gary Kunz, Mapleton (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a single-family dwelling in an Agricultural District of Cleveland Township.

-Dick Tilley, Le Sueur (applicant/owner), a CUP to allow grading and filling for the movement of approximately 1,200 cubic yards of material in a Conservancy District of Sharon Township (two conditions).

-Walter Hohn, St. Peter (applicant/owner), a CUP to establish a Level 2 Home Occupation in a Conservancy District of Kasota Township.

-Scott Michels, Kasota (applicant/owner), a CUP to establish a 3-lot preliminary plat to be known as La Hann's #3 in a Recreational Residential District on a Recreational Development Lake (Lake Washington) in Kasota Township.

The board also approved a Request for Proposals and Qualifications document presented by Brockway on a 3-2 vote. Le Sueur County adopted a new comprehensive plan in the summer of 2007 and a number of steps have already been taken to implement the vision established by the 2007 plan, including adoption of revisions to the water plan and implementation of a revolving loan fund, to allow citizens to upgrade failing septic systems. The county is now seeking consultant services for the preparation of a zoning/subdivision ordinance and will use the request for proposals to seek bids, with a budget of $30,000.

Also at Tuesday's meeting:

• Sandy Pinney was promoted from a waivered services staff nurse in the public health department to a waivered services supervisor, and on the recommendation of Public Health Director Cindy Shaughnessy and Personnel Coordinator Cindy Westerhouse, the department will post and advertise for two full-time waivered services staff nurses.

• The board approved a memorandum of understanding between the State of Minnesota and Le Sueur County by which the state will expend Homeland Security Grant Funding on behalf of the county for the purchase and installation of Livescan Fingerprint Capture Devices and related equipment.

• The board also approved a memorandum of intent between the county and the University of Minnesota Extension Nutrition Education Program, to provide nutrition education to eligible residents of the county.

• An upgrade of card readers for the court system was approved in the amount of $4,074 from Securitas Systems of Minneapolis, with funding from the court administration budget.

• Sheriff Dave Gliszinski was given approval to accept a $2,500 snowmobile grant from the DNR.

Next meeting December 11

• The next regular meeting of the county board will be Tuesday, Dec. 11 starting at 9:30 a.m. The commissioners do not meet Tuesday, Dec. 4, since several members will be attending the annual conference of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) in downtown Minneapolis.
