County board approves permits, considers plats

The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners approved four conditional use permits and considered two plats for property development at its regular meeting held Tuesday, April 4. A final plat in Washington Township was approved, while another in Cordova Township was sent back for further clarification.

Planning & Zoning Administrator Kathy Brockway presented the following requests, coming from the planning & zoning commission:

—Richard Bailey, New Prague (applicant/owner), a conditional use permit (CUP) for grading and filling of up to 1,500 cubic yards of material for the excavation of a pond in an ag residential district in Lanesburgh Township. Approved 5-0.

—Mary Wood, Montrose, CO (applicant), Earl Wood Trustee c/o Phoebe Bush, Mark Wood, Mary Wood, Montrose, CO (owner), a final plat for a two-lot subdivision to be known as “Wood’s Hilltop” in a rec residential district on a rec development lake in Washington Township. Plat approved 5-0.

—David & Frances Hennen, Le Sueur (applicant/owner), a CUP to establish a level two home occupation in an ag residential district of Tyrone Township. Approved 5-0.

—Bob Tonneson, Mankato (applicant/owner), a preliminary plat to establish a 15-lot subdivision to be known as “German Lakeside Estates” in a rec residential district on a residential development lake in Cordova Township. Following discussion, the item was tabled for one week to allow applicant to make changes and additional clarification of certain issues regarding the plat.

—Dave & Ann Faltin, Henderson (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a single-family dwelling in an ag residential district of Sharon Township. Approved 5-0.

—Sibley Aggregates, Belle Plaine (applicant), Leroy & Connie Chard, Belle Plaine (owner), a CUP for mineral extraction to re-establish a mining operation of 12.6 acres in Ottawa Township. Following objections presented by Bob Haas who lives near the area and comments by Mr. Chard, CUP approved 5-0.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting:

• Recommendations of Personnel Coordinator Peggy Donovan were approved as follows: Reclassify Sue Macho, accounting specialist II in the auditor’s office to office assistant II in the license bureau/auditor’s office; promote Kim Fillmore, office assistant II in the auditor’s department/switchboard to accounting specialist II in the auditor’s office; post and advertise for an office assistant II in the auditor’s office/switchboard; reclassify the positions of office assistant I in the county attorney’s office to office assistant II.
