County OKs Cedar Lake Farm Park agreement
Chuck Kajer, Managing Editor
Beginning June 13, Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park will be open to the public on weekends, following a decision by the Scott County Board of Commissioners Tuesday, April 28.
The park, a former day resort on the south side of Cedar Lake, about five miles northeast of New Prague, will be operated by a private vendor, Lancer Hospitality, on an interim basis. Lancer will provide event services and on-site facility management. The park will have land and water access, to the site, picnicking, beach access, concessions nd food, youth-oriented activities. There will be no charge for public use this year. The park will be open to the public weekends only.
Cedar Lake Farm was a day resort operated by the Hendricks family for nearly 40 years. It closed after the summer of 2007 and was sold to Scott County as part of a larger regional park. Because the county did not have funds to operate the park, they chose to work with a private vendor to operate the park on an interim basis.
