Crash leaves two in critical condition

A two-vehicle crash southeast of New Prague Friday afternoon left two New Prague men in critical condition at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

Darwin Carr, 76, of New Prague and his son, Thomas Gerard Carr, 52, were in a 1991 Chevrolet pickup driven by the elder Carr when it collided with a 2005 Ford pickup driven by Eric Solheid, 32, also of New Prague.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Le Sueur County Roads 29 and 164.

The crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Both of the Carrs had to be extricated from their pickup by the New Prague Fire Department. Darwin Carr was transported by New Prague Ambulance to Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, and then was airlifted to North Memorial due to extensive internal injuries and head trauma. Thomas Carr was also extricated from the pickup and was airlifted from the scene by North Air to North Memorial.

Solheid was taken to Queen of Peace Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Both Darwin and Thomas Carr were listed in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon.
