Failing to stop at a highway intersection, Thursday, Oct. 30, caused a two-vehicle accident and sent the two drivers to Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
Richard Maleski, 65, of New Market, and Scott Nutter, 41, of Montgomery, were taken to the hospital after their vehicles collided at the intersection of Le Sueur County Road 28 and State Highway 13/21.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Maleski was driving a 1998 Ford Escort eastbound on Co. Rd. 28 and failed to stop at the highway stop sign. He broadsided Nutter who was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition. The force of the impact sent both vehicles in the ditch east of 13, north of 28 with the Expedition landing on its side.
According to the MN State Patrol, Maleski suffered minor head and facial injuries. Nutter suffered severe hand, rib and head injuries. The two were taken to Queen of Peace Hospital, then later transferred to North Memorial Medical Center. They have since been treated and released.
The MN State Patrol also indicated the accident totalled both vehicles.
