Cross Country boys earn trophy at Norwood Young America
The TCU boys’ cross country team earned its hardware on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when it took third place at Norwood Young America.
Senior Marty McGuire finished ninth overall with a time of 17:38, and Mitch Dooley finished in 16th place with an ending time of 18.13 for medalist honors.
“I was very happy with both teams’ (girls and boys) performances, especially in the heat,” said TCU Coach Brian Fogal. “Almost all of our athletes had season best times. We run the conference meet at Norwood later in the year, so it was nice to get a race on the course.”
Overall, the TCU team finished behind Delano and Jordan out of 20 schools that participated.
TCU runners Ben Barnack was the third Titan to finish with a tim of 18:25, followed by Jared Dooley in 18:50, Mick McGuire in 19:12, Thomas Franek in 19:25 and Mac Malecha in 19:58.
The first runner to cross the finish line was Adam Armbruster of Delano. Armbruster finished the 5K run with a time of 16:51.
On Friday, Sept. 13, the runners participate in a race at Loyola Catholic High School in Mankato.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24 the runners are scheduled to go to New Prague for a run that starts at 4 p.m.
