Curtain Call to hold auditions for winter show
Curtain Call Theatre announces auditions for their winter dinner theatre. This year's show will be "Spreading it Around" by Londos D'Arrigo.
Auditions will be held at Hilltop Hall in Montgomery on Tuesday, Jan.3 and Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. both evenings. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. The show will be directed by David Ott. Performance dates will be February 17, 18, 24, 25 and 26 at Hilltop Hall.
The show is about a wealthy widow living in an up-scale retirement community who is tired of handing out money to her unappreciative children. So she, along with her neighbor, start the “S.I.N. (Spending It Now) Foundation,” to give to those truly in need. When her greedy son and his shopaholic wife find out what she's up to, they attempt to have her declared financially incompetent by secretly bringing in a psychiatrist to evaluate her. However, Mom learns of their scheme and turns tables on them - showing just how competent she really is.
Larry Pint of Curtain Call Theatre said the show features delicious roles for adult and mature actors. “This poignant family comedy has played numerous theatre in the US and Canada, and continues spreading the laughs around,” he said.
Characters in this delightful comedy include: Angie Drayton - a likeable, caring, active woman in her sixties; Martin Wheeler - Angie's neighbor, a fit, well-preserved man in his sixties or seventies; Larry Drayton - Angie's son, an arrogant, self-important fellow; Traci Drayton - Larry's wife, and Angie's daughter-in-law, a self-absorbed fashionista; and Dr. Krapinsky - a psychiatrist.
