For the first time, the New Prague Trojan Dance Team hosted a Wright County Conference meet.

The Wright County High Kick meet was held Thursday, Dec. 15, at the school gym. The Trojan varsity placed fifth after a tie-breaker with Mound Westonka.

Finishing ahead of New Prague were Hutchinson, Orono and Waconia.

“The team came out with a lot of energy in front of their home crowd, but scores were not as high as hoped,” Coach Chris Plambeck said. “The team score was 318, which was the exact same score from the previous weekend.”

Plambeck said there was some positive movement on the scoresheet in the areas of Visual Effectiveness and Creativity, as well as Choreography and Combinations. Alicia Larson was strong, executing some difficult moves effortlessly.

New Prague’s JV kick team placed second, right behind Hutchinson. Their biggest jump on the scoresheet was in practicality of content, and their overall score went up to 199 from 191 from the previous weekend.

New Prague’s B-squad had their debut performance with an exhibition kick routine.

The team’s meet at Waconia on Saturday, Dec. 16, was cancelled due to the weather. New Prague’s next meet will be Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Edina Invitational.
